A morning of wellbeing for hospice mums and carers At Haven House, we know how important it is for parents and carers to take time for themselves - to rest, recharge and nurture their own wellbeing. Last week, we were delighted to host a special Morning of Wellbeing for hospice mums and carers, offering a peaceful space for relaxation, reflection and connection. Guests enjoyed a range of calming and restorative activities. They began by making their own aromatherapy rollerballs, blending essential oils to create personalised scents for relaxation and balance. There was also time for some gentle pampering with nail painting, adding a touch of sparkle and bringing plenty of smiles and conversation. Many took part in sound healing with Reiki, where soothing tones and vibrations helped to calm the mind and restore focus, while others experienced craniosacral treatments, a deeply relaxing therapy designed to ease tension and promote a sense of overall wellbeing. After the sessions, everyone came together to enjoy a light lunch - a lovely opportunity to chat, share experiences and connect with others who understand the challenges and joys of caring. The morning offered a much-needed pause in busy lives and highlighted the importance of wellbeing and self-care for those who spend so much time caring for others. A heartfelt thank you goes to our amazing volunteer therapists, who generously gave their time and skills, and to our wonderful Family Events Team for organising such a thoughtful and uplifting day. “Our mums and carers give so much of themselves every single day. This morning was about giving something back - creating space for calm, connection and self-care. Hospice care is about caring for the whole family, and this event was a lovely way to show that support extends far beyond the child’s clinical needs. It was lovely to see so many people leave feeling lighter, more relaxed and supported,” said Beverley John, Haven House’s Family Events and Activities Manager. Creating space for carers to focus on their wellbeing is an important part of what we do at Haven House - helping them feel supported, valued and connected every step of the way.
