Children's Commissioner of England visits Haven House Haven House was delighted to welcome the Children's Commissioner for England, Dame Rachel de Souza, on a visit to our hospice. The Children's Commissioner is a national adviser to the government on the needs of children and families and represents the interests of children on a range of vital issues. We were honoured that Dame Rachel chose Haven House for her first visit to a children's hospice; the Commissioner enjoyed a tour of our services, met a number of our children, and enjoyed a tea party with parents who were able to share their experiences of caring for children with serious illness. We will continue to work with the Commissioner in the future to support Dame Rachel's work to advocate for the needs of seriously ill children and to support the need for sustainable financial arrangements for children's hospices across the country. Dame Rachel de Souza said: “I was honoured to meet some of the children and families being supported by Haven House Children’s Hospice and talk about the wide-ranging support they offer to children facing serious illness and serious disabilities. It was great to hear about the supportive work provided to families in challenging times, which creates space where children can thrive, and helps families to build precious memories together.” Donate Today
