Stories Comedian Jon Richardson becomes Haven House ambassador To launch his ambassadorship, Jon will be hosting a special comedy night with his comedian friends this May in London, raising vital funds for Haven House. Jon, widely known for his sharp wit and appearances on the popular TV show 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown, has recently announced an upcoming acting role in the hit TV series Waterloo Road, further expanding his career into scripted drama. Alongside his growing career, he has already made a significant impact to Haven House through his fundraising efforts. Over the last five years, he has hosted three comedy nights, raising approximately £90,000, represented Haven House at the annual BGC Charity Trading Day, and consistently advocated for the hospice sector. Jon recently visited our hospice in Woodford Green, spending time with our children, families, volunteers, and staff. He met with 5-year-old Sofia and her mother Silvia in the sensory room, where he saw firsthand the impact of our care on families in need of comfort and support. Speaking about his new role, Jon said: “I’m incredibly proud to become an ambassador for Haven House. The work they do to support children and families going through unimaginable challenges is truly inspiring. I’ve seen firsthand the care, dedication, and love that the hospice provides, and I’m committed to doing all I can to support their vital work. “I am therefore delighted to announce another comedy night in London this May to help raise vital funds for Haven House. The hospice needs all the support it can get to meet the growing demand for its specialist care.” As a charity, we are reliant on the generosity of donors and supporters, needing to raise around £6 million each year, just to keep going. The hospice sector is facing a collective deficit of £77 million, with children's hospices increasingly relying on charitable income and reserves to provide vital care and support. Jon joins a distinguished group of Haven House patrons and ambassadors, including TV presenter Ben Shephard, actor Ray Winstone, England football captain Harry Kane, Downton Abbey creator Lord Julian Fellowes, radio presenter Mark Wright and reality TV stars Billie and Greg Shepherd. These high-profile supporters play a crucial role in championing our work, helping to raise vital funds and awareness so that more families can benefit from the essential care and support Haven House provides. Haven House CEO Ralph Coulbeck welcomed Jon’s appointment, saying: “Jon has been a passionate supporter of Haven House for many years, and we are thrilled to officially welcome him as an ambassador. His generosity and commitment are instrumental in helping us continue our mission of providing specialist care and support to children and their families. Given the financially challenging times we’re facing, Jon’s support has never been more important in ensuring we can maintain the vital services that families rely on.” You can catch Jon and friends in London at the Bloomsbury Theatre on Tuesday 13 May.
