Stories News Recognising Kinship Week This week marks Kinship Week, a time to celebrate and raise awareness of the incredible role that kinship carers play in children’s lives. Kinship carers are relatives or close family friends who step in to care for children when their parents are unable to do so. A Haven House Children’s Hospice, we know first-hand the love, stability and strength that kinship families provide. Some of the children we support live with grandparents, aunts, uncles, or family friends who have taken on this vital role. “Jaidon came into our lives at 8 weeks old as a complete surprise. Although we didn’t expect to be raising our great nephew, we wouldn’t be without him. Its been a joy to see him grow into a such a talented, wonderful man.” BeckiWhile kinship care can bring joy and strong family bonds, it can also come with challenges. That’s why it’s so important to recognise and support these families, who give children a safe and loving home during times of need. During Kinship Week, we want to say thank you to the kinship carers in our community. Your care makes a lasting difference to the children we support. If you’d like to learn more about kinship care and how you can support kinship families, visit Kingship.org.uk. Haven House Children's Hospice needs to raise £6 million each year to be able to continue to care for the children and families we support. By donating you are helping us to reach more seriously ill children and their families in your local communities. Donate Today
