The responses we received highlight the vital role that Haven House has in supporting not only the clinical but also the emotional and social needs of our families, as well as what they want to see us develop and grow.

The experience survey is one important way that we listen to our families, ensuring our services continue to meet the highest standards and their needs. ‘Safe’, ‘inclusive’ and ‘caring’ – are just some of the words our families used to describe what Haven House means to them.

Aisling Kilbane, Director of Care at Haven House, said:

Our care and support has never been more important: as the number of children living with serious illness continues to grow and we remain ambitious to expand the range of services we offer.
Our families’ satisfaction and wellbeing are our top priorities, and their insights and feedback are essential. The survey has given us clear priorities for the development of our care services, including the expansion of our therapies, wellbeing and family support offer, with a focus on increasing support for older children making the transition to adult care and on ensuring we reach the whole range of our diverse communities.

"The day and overnight respite helped my partner and I to connect and bond as a couple.”

Lovely to meet up with some of the other parents at events because they understand and appreciate what it means to care of a child with additional needs.

Holistic care benefits: Beyond respite and social support, families also praised the variety of holistic care services provided. Activities such as yoga, sibling and family events, were particularly appreciated with 81% saying that Haven House gives them a chance to make memories together.
